Gold Olive

Engin Selçuk (Turkey)

Engin Selçuk was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1975. His first cartoons were published in 1990, in Turkish humour magazines of the period and are still being exhibited at national and international cartoon contests.

The artist, who has won several awards at national and international cartoon contests, is a member of the Turkish Cartoonists’ Association.

Musa Keklik (Turkey)

Musa Keklik was born in Siirt, Turkey in 1981. He has been living in Istanbul since 1995. His career as a cartoonists began in 2002 with witty cartoons for humour magazines.

He worked at several humour magazines published in Turkey. He has gravitated towards global cartoon since 2007. His artwork has been exhibited at several cartoon shows and appeared in albums.

Musa Keklik has won many prizes at national and international cartoon contests. His cartoons have been exhibited in many countries and were published in albums.

Sajad Rafeei (Iran)

Sajad Rafeei who lives in Ahwaz, Iran, has been illustrating cartoons for 12 years. He is a member of the cartoon group called the “Yellow Deer Group” and his cartoons have been published in national and international magazines.

Sajad Rafeei has won many prizes at national and international cartoon festivals. Some of these include: Third Prize – 1. University Students’ Cartoon Festival (2002 – Iran), Award of Success – FCW International Cartoon Festival (2006 – China), First Prize – International BH Humour Cartoon Festival (2010 – Brazil), Special Prize – 30thAydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition (2013 – Turkey), 31stAydın Doğan International Cartoon Competition (2014 – Turkey), Special Prize – 3rd International Olive Cartoons Contest (2014 – Cyprus), Special Prize – 36th International Nasreddin Hodja Cartoon Contest (2016 – Turkey).

Gabriele Corvi (Italy)

Gabrielle Corvi, also known as Lele Corvi, was born in 1964. He began drawing cartoons since 1994. His cartoons, comic strips, and comics are being published in various local newspapers in Italy. Some of these newspapers include: “Corriere della Sera”, “Gazetta dello Sport”, “Eko di Bergamo” and “Il Cittadino”.

 Gabrielle Corvi was awarded with numerous prizes at national and international cartoon contests; his artwork has been exhibited and published in cartoon albums. He participated in many collective shows along with solo exhibitions in Italy.

Special Prize

Mojmir Mihatov (Croatia)

Mojmir Mihatov was born in Zadar, Croatia in 1952. He began working as a scriptwriter and puppeteer at Zadar Puppet Theatre after completing his studies in fine arts.

 His cartoons are being published in various newspapers and magazines in Croatia and abroad. His artwork has been exhibited at international cartoon contests in many countries, his cartoons appeared in albums and he won 36 prizes to date.

Special Prize

Marin Cretu (Romania)

Marin Cretu was born in 1945, Romania. He began illustrating for humour magazines in Romania since 1986.

He had solo shows on cartoon in 1974, 1991, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. He made the “Banc Show” humour programme on Prima TV in Romania in 2002.

His artwork has been exhibited in various countries at international cartoon contests, and was published in albums. He is a member of the Bucharest Cartoonists’ Club.

Angelo Campaner (Italy)

Gabrielle Corvi, also known as Lele Corvi, was born in 1964. He began drawing cartoons since 1994. His cartoons, comic strips, and comics are being published in various local newspapers in Italy. Some of these newspapers include: “Corrieredella Sera”, “Gazetta dello Sport”, “Eko di Bergamo” and “Il Cittadino”.

Zoran Josic (Slovenia)

Zoran Josic was born in Belgrad (Federal Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia) in 1949. He graduated from School of Industrial Design. He lives in Celje, in Slovenia, and works on plastic arts, industrial design, painting, and design.

His cartoons appeared in local magazines: “Vecer” (Maribor – Slovenia), “Jez” (Belgrad – Serbia), “Osten” (Skopje – Macedonia).

His artwork have been exhibited at international cartoon contests in many countries around the world, appeared in albums, and were deemed worthy of awards.

Shirin Gholipour (Iran)

Shirin Gholipur holds a BA in Department of Painting and an MA in Department of Drawing at Ferdowsi University of Mashnad.

Some of the prizes Shirin Gholipour won at national and international cartoon contests include: Special Prize – 1st International Olive Cartoons Contest (2008 – Cyprus), Special Prize – 2nd International Cartoon Contest “MollaNasreddin” (2009 – Azerbaijan), Special Prize – International Humoura Gallarate Cartoon Contest (2010 – Italy), Amnesty International Special Prize – 20th International Cartoon Contest Olense Kartoenale (2011 – Belgium), Special Prize – Gold Panda Cartoon and Illustration Contest (2011 and 2014 – China).

Federation Cartoonists Organizations (FECO – CYPRUS) Special Prize

Dolgun Dalgıçoğlu (Cyprus)

His interest in the art of cartoon started with the Turkish Humour Magazine “Gır – Gır” in 1974. His first cartoons were published in “Afrika” newspaper, and he illustrated daily cartoons for “Ortam” newspaper.

His artwork has been exhibited at national and international cartoon competitions and appeared in several cartoon albums.

Dolgun Dalgıçoğlu’s artwork has been exhibited at a number of collective shows organised by the Turkish – Cypriot Cartoonists’ Association.

He is a member of the Turkish – Cypriot Cartoonists’ Association, The Federation of the European Cartoonists Organisations (FECO) and The Federation of Cartoonists Association Cyprus (FECO – Cyprus).

 He was awarded with the “Special Prize” in 2012 at the 3rd International Ramiz Gökçe Cartoon Contest organised in Cyprus.

Cyprus – Turkish Cartoonists Association Special Prize

Vladimir Kazanevsky (Ukrain)

Vladimir Kazanevsky was born in Lebedyn, Ukraine in 1950. He resides and works in Kiev. In 1973, he graduated from university majoring in “Cosmic Radio Physics” and later from Kiev Institute of Journalism, as “Press Artist” in 1984.

His cartoons appeared in various newspapers and magazines in a number of countries around the world including: Japan, Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland, USA, and Germany. He won more than 400 prizes at international cartoon contests.

Vladimir Kazanevsky presented seminars on the art of cartoon and comic strips in Hawaii, California, Paris, Luxembourg, Bologna, Osaka, Ankara and Tehran.

Some of his personal cartoon books include: “Revelation of Elderly Cupid” (1993 – Ukraine), “Art of Modern Cartoon” (2003 – Ukraine), “Modern Cartoonist Vladimir Kazanevsky” (2004 – China), “Homo Gibber” (2007 – Switzerland), “Neck” (2010 – Ukraine).

Olive Festival Special Prize

Serdar Kıcıklar (Turkey)

Serdar Kıcıklar was born in 1963, Istanbul. He started engaging with art in 1978. His cartoons appeared in humour magazines, which include; “Gır Gır”, “Çarşaf”, “Kara Kedi”, “Mikrop” and “Fırça”. He worked at humour magazines “Kara Kedi” between the years 1979 – 1980, and “Çarşaf” between the years 1980 – 1981.

He worked as a cartoonist and a page designer at the newspapers “Tercüman” and “Bulvar” (1982 – 1981). He published his first cartoon album “Garnitür” in 1986.

Mr Kıcıklar had drawn cartoons and portraits at Tatilya Amusement Park in Istanbul between the years 2002 – 2003. He held a solo show called “25th Year in Cartoon” in 2003.

His artwork has won numerous prizes at national and international cartoon contests.

Joseph George Szabo Special Prize

Juli Sanchis Aguado (Spain)

Juli Sanchis Aguado who was born in Picassent, Spain in 1942, is known by the sobriquet of “Harca” among the world of cartoon. He collaborates with newspapers and magazines published in Spain as a freelance cartoonist. He has organised many national and international cartoon contests in Spain.

He held cartoon exhibitions in Spain, Croatia, Italy and Argentina, and has published a large number of cartoon albums. He participated in several international cartoon contests, served as juror, and won prizes.

Juli Sanchis Aguado, who holds the title of “Honorary Professor of Humour” of “Alcala de Henares University”, is the Vice – President of the Federation of Cartoonists Organisations (FECO – SPAIN).

Erten Kasımoğlu Special Prize

Aslı Avcı (Turkey)

Aslı Avcı was born in 1989, Yalova. She graduated from Uludağ University Department of Teaching Visual Arts. Her artwork is based on cartoon, original print, and oil painting.

Participated in several group shows in Bursa. She is a member of Anatolian Cartoonists’ Association. She works as Visual Arts Teacher at a private school in Bursa; giving lectures on cartoon, illustration and character design.
