KYRENIA – CYPRUS
NİDAİ GÜNGÜRDÜ (CYPRUS)
He was born in Limassol in 1958. After his education in Cyprus, he graduated from Ankara State Architecture and Engineering Faculty (now Gazi University) as a civil engineer.
In April 1985, as a temporary construction engineer, the initiative started at Girne Municipality. Later, he worked as the President of the Municipality of Urban Development, Construction and Water Works and Sewerage, respectively.
On January 1996 he became the Head of the Municipality of Girne. He has represented Girne Municipality as a Manager and Technical Staff at various dates, both in Turkey and abroad.
Güngördü is also married and has two children in various non-governmental organizations in Girne. He knows English and Greek well.
KAMİL YAVUZ (TURKEY)
President of the Jury
He was born in Istanbul in 1959. His first cartoons began to be published in the "Gır Gır Mizah" Magazine since 1973. His earliest caricature in serious terms was published in Çarşaf Mizah Magazine in 1976.
Apart from cartoons, he worked as a page designer for humor magazines and newspapers. He is currently working as a freelance cartoonist and participates in cartoon exhibitions in many parts of the world.
He participated in exhibitions in more than 40 countries outside Turkey. 35 of his cartoons were awarded in various competitions. These include Turkey, Russia, Belgium, Spain, Romania, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Uruguay Korea, and Taiwan.
In 1994, Paris, 2000 Landeck and 2003 Tebriz-Tahran presented their cartoon exhibition "Elveda Cigarette, Hello Life" as a slide show in their personal exhibitions.It was opened in 29 different cities in Turkey and the exhibition book has 12.000 books, postcards and posters 1 million Pieces were printed and consumed.
Since 1996, some schools have been running cartoons as elective courses for students. He is married with two children. Continuous Press Card is carried.
CUMHUR DELİCEİRMAK (CYPRUS)
1951 Born in Nicosia, Turkish Cypriot. Artist (Poetry - Painting - Sculpture), Corner Article, TV - Radio programmer.
DERMAN ATİK (CYPRUS)
Born in Limassol, Cyprus in 1962. In 1974 he migrated from Limassol to Omorfo (Güzelyurt). It is one of four people who founded "Güzelyurt Art Association" (GÜSAD) in 1983. He got married in 1990 and settled in Girne and in 1999 he led the establishment of "Girne Municipality Theater Studio" (GİBETSU).
He worked as a director in "Cyprus Turkish State Theater" in 2006 - 2007. She is still the General Art Director of "Girne Municipality Theater Studio" (GİBETSU). He is married and has a daughter child's father.
HÜSEYİN ÇAKMAK (CYPRUS)
He was born in Nicosia – Cyprus in 1964. He started drawing cartoons in 1976 under the influence of the “Gir – Gir” Humour Magazine of Turkey. His cartoons have been published in various newspapers and magazines in Cyprus as well as in many countries of the world since 1983.
He is one of the five founding members of the Cypriot Turkish Cartoonists Association which was established in 1986. Since then, he has been the president of this association. His works have been exhibited in more than 60 countries and they have been published in international cartoon albums.
He won 99 awards in various national and international cartoon contests and has many times been elected the “Cartoonist of the Year.”
MEHMET ULUBATLI (CYPRUS)
Born in 1963 in Paphos. His cartoons were published in newspapers and magazines named "Yenidüzen", "Scorpio", "Teacher", "New Order Culture and Art". His works were exhibited in the national and international cartoons, and they were included in the prepared albums.
Founder member of the Turkish Cypriot Turkish Cartoonists Association and [1980 - 1990] pioneer of the "Universalization Period" in the Turkish Cyborg cartoon art.
He has won many awards in national and international cartoon competitions. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Turkish Cartoonists Association.
MUSTAFA TOZAKI (CYPRUS)
In 1957, he was born in the village of Solya (Aybifan) of the city of Lefke, Cyprus. His works were exhibited in national and international cartoon festivals and published in cartoon albums.
He was a member of "Selection Committee" in national and international cartoons competitions.
It is the pioneers of the "Universalization Period" [1980 - 1990] in the Cypriot Turkish Cartoon Art. Member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Cypriot Turkish Cartoonists Association.
